De jaren zestig en zeventig waren een cruciale periode voor Ford in Europa en waren, vanuit Brits perspectief gezien, een tijd van experimenteren en verkennen. Aan het begin van de jaren zestig had Ford modellen die zich op slechts twee marktsectoren richtten – kleine gezinssedans en grote gezinssedans – maar tegen het einde van de jaren zeventig waren ze in niet minder dan vijf marktgebieden vertegenwoordigd met kleine hatchbacks, kleine sedans, middelgrote sedans, sportieve coupés en grote sedans. En ze hadden alle rivalen in Groot-Brittannië ingehaald om de best verkopende fabrikant te worden, met (sinds 1967) de Cortina als best verkochte auto.

 Met meer dan 270 foto's beschrijft dit boek: de bedrijfsstructuur, bedrijven en belangrijke locaties van Ford gedurende de afgelopen twintig jaar; de factoren die van invloed zijn op modelontwerp, engineering, styling en interieur; specificatie- en prestatietabellen; marktontvangst en verkoop; speciale edities, in het buitenland geproduceerde modellen en conversies en tot slot nuttig koopadvies voor elk model.
